Company B 1st Minnesota Cavalry" Mounted Rangers" , also The 11th Mn. Civil War. Harrison was a son of Joseph and Mary Clarke Crandall. This family has a long history of military service to the USA. Harrisons maternal and paternal grandfathers served in the Rev war with the Colonials, and his father served in the war of 1812. All of his brothers except one who was injured as a child and so was unfit for duty, served in the civil war for the Union, along with the husband of their only sister, Lydia Crandall Collins.
Harrison became a newspaperman in Arkansas and later one of his sons took over and continued in the profession. Please see his profile on wikitree.

From American Civil War Research DataBase: "Residence not listed. Enlisted on 9/20/11/1862 as a Private. On 9/20/1862 he mustered into 'Read's' Co. MN Citizens Soldiers. He was mustered out on 12/20/1862." In a second listing for Harrison Crandall: "Residence not listed; 40 years old. Enlisted on 10/11/1862 at Shelby, Blue Earth Co., MN as a Private. On 10/11/1862 he mustered into 'B' Co. MN 1st Cavalry. He was Mustered Out on 11/9/1863. Other information: born in Ohio." In both cases the references cited were: "Minnesota in the Civil and Indian Wars 1861-1865" and "Minnesota Adjutant General's Report of 1866."
