Born in West Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Frederick E. and Edith M. (Kelley) Babcock.
Mrs. Hamilton had worked for the former Shepard's Store in Providence, the Saunderstown Post Office, the First National Stores, and was the first women cashier, the Prudential Insurance Co., and was the first women agent, and was a dietitian aide and cashier at South County Hospital for many years.
She was a communicant of St. Francis Church. She was a member and the first president of the Wakefield Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Narragansett Grange 1, P of H, and served as lecturer for many years. She was a member of the Pomona State Grange and the National Grange.
Mrs. Hamilton leaves a son, Charles "Jack" Hamilton of Wakefield; a brother, Charles Hurst of Warwick; four sisters, Edna Tamboe, Ruth Blessing, Alice Hurst, all of Providence, and Edith Johnson of Warwick; four granddaughters and nine great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Harris, Frederick and Dorothy Babcock.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday at St. Francis Church, High Street, Wakefield. Burial followed in New Fernwood Cemetery in Kingston.
