Funeral Services For Mrs. Leonard Are Held Sunday
Funeral services for Mrs. H.H. Leonard were held Sunday afternoon in the First Methodist church with Rev. Bascom Doak, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Carnegie cemetery.
Mrs. Leonard, who had been ill in the Carnegie hospital the past six weeks, died late Friday afternoon. She had spent a few days with her son at Oklahoma City during Thanksgiving time when she became quite ill and returned here to enter the hospital.
Dora Catherine Cook was born January 29, 1880, at Laclece, Mo. In 1893 her father staked a claim near Perry, in the Cherokee Strip was married to Harry H. Leonard on August 30, 1897. They moved to a farm northeast of Alfalfa July 15, 1901, again pioneers in a new area.
Although the family moved to Carnegie in the fall of 1911, and to the home on East First the following spring, they kept the land they loved. She and Mr. Leonard were baptized an became member of the Methodist church in Carnegie on July 19, 1921. He preceded her in death March 4, 1951. A daughter, Mrs. Mabelle Battle, also preceded her in death September 3, 1960.
She is survived by three children, Herbert M. and Earl R. of Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Robert Lee, Carnegie; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Roberts and Mrs. Arch Zink, both of Billings, Okla., several nieces and nephews. All were present for the services, except one granddaughter who is in a hospital. Many friends from out-of-town attended, also.
