William Eugene Doane, a district manager of the circulation department of the Deseret News died Monday after a prolonged illness. Funeral services will be held in the Liberty ward chapel at 2 o'clock Thursday, Jan. 10. The body may be viewed at the residence, 235 Edith avenue from 12 to 1 o'clock in the day of the funeral. Interment will be in City cemetery.
Mr. Doane was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, Jan. 9, 1882. He served in the Spanish American war, and was the youngest member of the crew on the U. S. S. Calamianes. In 1912 he married Marjorie Vance, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Vance. He has been a resident of Salt Lake for the past 12 years and was a manager of District D, Deseret News for three years.
He won the love and respect of all his business associates, especially the boys who worked as carriers under his supervision.
In addition to his wife and daughter, Norma Eunice Doane, his mother and one brother in Berkley, Cal., survive.
