Services for W. T. Barnett, 85, of Crosbyton were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, 1989 in the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church with Rev. Wendell Horn, pastor, officiating. Masonic graveside rites followed in the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

Mr. Barnett died at 1:55 a.m. Monday in the Crosbyton Clinic Hospital following a lengthy illness.

He was born April 16, 1904 in Crafton, TX and married Rena Miller, Dec. 23, 1928 in Crosbyton. She preceded him in death Feb. 7, 1989. He was a farmer and a gin manager for 35 years and a member of the Ginner´s Association. He was a member of the Crosbyton Masonic Lodge 1020 and a Charter Member and Past Pres. of the Crosbyton Rodeo Association. He was a member of the Crosby County Sheriff´s Posse and a former Trustee of the Wake School Board. He moved to Crosbyton in 1920. One brother, Jack Barnett preceded him in death in 1980 and one grandson, Ryan Wayne Deerman who died Oct. 25, 1979.

Survivors include one son: Jimmy Barnett of Lubbock; 3 daughters: Betty Pierce of Crosbyton and Ann Hays of Crosbyton, and Sue Deerman of La Mesa, NM; 2 brothers: H.B. Barnett of Kerrville, and Garrett Barnett of San Bernardino, CA; 3 sisters: Elsie Steen of California, Lottie Leatherwood of Crosbyton and Lucille Blankenship of McAllen; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.

Active Pallbearers were: Jimmy Barnett, Jr., Jay Barnett, Jackie Pierce, Wade Deerman, Curtis Leatherwood, Hollie Poor.

Honorary Pallbearers: T.W. Stockton, Jimmy Dunn, Bob Hardin, Buz Parkhill, Dutch Hines, Dwayne Cornelius, Van Horn, George Pechacek.
