Mildred Ann Barnett Hays was born March 10, 1942 in the community of Wake, Texas in Crosby County to Truman and Rena Barnett. She attended Crosbyton Schools. Before graduating from Crosbyton High School in 1960, she attended Jesse Lee's Beauty School on weekends and began working as a hairdresser. Ann worked for Irene Dendy for several years before opening and operating Ann's Hen House in Crosbyton where she had her license for over 55 years. She worked as a 911 dispatcher for the Crosby County Sheriff's Office for 22 years. She enjoyed visiting with friends and driving her Smart car and golf cart around town. Known by many as “Annie,” she always had a big smile and a very ornery behavior.

She is preceded in death by her parents; 3 nephews, Ryan Deerman, Wade Deerman and Jacky Pierce.

Ann is survived by a daughter, Heidi of Crosbyton, a brother; Jimmy Barnett of Lubbock; two sisters; Betty Pierce of Crosbyton and Sue Deerman of La Mesa, NM. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews; a cat; Honey, and very special friends; Robbie Fusselman and Bob and Anne Butler.

Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Crosbyton, burial will follow in the Crosbyton Cemetery under the care of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton. A visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 p.m. till 3:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to ACS – Hope Lodge Lubbock in memory of Ann Hays, 3511 10th Street, Lubbock, Tx 79415 or the First United Methodist Church in Crosbyton.
