John Allen DeLoach Aged Resident, Dies
Prominent Farmer of County Once Operated Sea Island Cotton Gin Near Here
John Allen DeLoach, age 72 years, died Saturday night at the home of his daughter near here. Mr. DeLoach was born in Tattnall county June 25, 1862, and came to Pierce county many years ago where he was a large land owner and operator of a sea island cotton gin. For the last several years he has been in ill health.
Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10 o'clock at the Alabaha Free Will Baptist Church, Rev. J. R. Davidson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. DeLoach leaves a large host of friends besides his family. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. J. A. DeLoach; five daughters, Mrs. S. P. Jones of Blackshear, Mrs. L. L. Harrison of Montverde, Fla., Mrs. W. R. Harrison, Mrs. J. E. Minchew and Mrs. L. W. White of Waycross; five sons, J. A., Jr., of Atlanta, W. E. of Blackshear, A. L. of Atlanta, J. L. of South Jacksonville, Fla., and Taft of Waycross; one half sister, Mrs. R. L. Johnson, and two half brothers, Nathan and Zeb Rolls of Tattnall county.
Pallbearers were W. R. Riggins, D. V. Cason, Archie Bennett, D. S. Lewis, Baxter Bennett and Grooms Bowen.
