Ione accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Providence Baptist Church in Emmett, Ark. Her formal education was in Emmett, Ark. She met and married Lee Andrew Wilburn, who preceeded her in death. While in Arkansas, Ione's hobbies included: gardening, canning fruits and vegatables, and getting together with neighbors and quilting, which she enjoyed very much.
The family moved to OKC, October of 1938. She united with New Zion Baptist Church and later joined Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she was a member for sixty years. She worked faithfully with the nursery and Missionary Society.
Ione retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1969, after thirty years of service.
Ione loved her children and will be remembered for all her love for life, love for her family, friends and her church. She shared a lot of joy to all. She quietly slept away July 23, 2006.
Her daughter, Theona Jackson, followed her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory, four children: sons, Huey P. Wilburn and Gregory Wilburn; two daughters: Cora Ann Davis and Joyce (James) Wilson; one nephew, George (Jessie) Wesley, Sr.; one niece, Lazelle (Charles) Johnson; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
