Leonard Cooper was the youngest son of Abner Clay Cooper and the former Margaret Jane "Maggie" Gaston.

Graduated from Maryville College in 1921.

J. Leonard Cooper married Miss Eulalia Autrey on November 24th 1928. They lived between Gastonburg, Alabama and Phoenix, Arizona before settling in Meridian, Mississippi; where he departed this life on April 8th 2000 at the age of 97 years, 11 months and 10 days.

Note:
John Cooper was a Phoenix Fire Captain, Arizona from about 1934-1957, having been promoted to Captain in October 1942 and assigned to Fire Station 8 shortly after it opened, and which still stands in December 2021 as a small museum for the Phoenix Fire Department.
