Formerly of Farmington, passed away in the loving care of her son, James and his wife, Kathy on July 27, 2014, at the age of 91. Bernice was born May 18, 1923, in Muncie, Indiana to the late Sylvia (Carmen) Weaver. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Arthur Counts on January 31, 1988, and a daughter, Sylvia Minkler in 2006.
Bernice graduated from DeSoto, Indiana High School in 1941. Later she attended Mineral Area College where she became certified as an LPN. She pursued her chosen nursing career working for many years and did not retire until well into her 70's. In her spare time Bernice loved to travel, garden and take walks in the park. She also especially enjoyed cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Receiving and collecting photos of her grandchildren was something she always loved. Bernice will be remembered as a "shoe fanatic" who enjoyed being fashionable.
Survivors include her children, Rebecca Ann Ferrell, Dennis Lee Clark and wife, Beverly, James Clark and wife, Kathy, Alvin Eugene Counts and Penny Sue Kennon and husband, Paul; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and twelve great-great grandchildren. Other extended family and friends also survive.
