Robert Carroll Parker, 77, of Fort Smith died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, in Fort Smith.

He was the founder of Parker Solvents Corp. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He graduated from SMU in 1948 and was president of SMU Alumni in Tulsa. He served as a president of the Downtown Rotary Club and Southside Rotary Club, served on the boards of St. Edward Mercy and Sparks Regional medical centers and Harbor View Hospital. He was a member of Boys Scouts of America and was a Cub Master of Ballman School for two years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and served on committees for finance and the Family Life Center Building. He coached basketball and baseball Little League teams for the church.

Funeral was 11 a.m. Thursday in Roebuck Chapel of First United Methodist Church with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home In Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Marian; one son, Robert Jr. of Fort Smith; one brother, Jerry of Tulsa; three grandchildren, Holly Dempsey and Christina Parker both of Fort Smith and Mathew Parker of San Diego; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tony Beatty, Bob MIller, Doug Parker, Jim Russell and Nelson Wakefield.
