Husband: Milford F. Acres
OBIT: Eva Mays Acres, 88, of Oneida, died Friday, October 22, 1993, at the Scott County Hospital following a lingering illness. Born in Scott County on May 20, 1905, she was the daughter of the late William Mays and the late Elizabeth Davis Mays. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oneida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Oscar, Lee and Bill Mays, and one grandson, Terry Acres. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Milford F. Acres; two sons: Hoit Acres and wife, Mary Lou, of Louisville, Ky., and Hoyel Acres and wife, Joan, of Warner Robins, Ga.; three daughters: Joyce Davis and husband, Howard, of Warner Robins, Ga., and Billie Trammell and husband, Tom, and Shirley Jeffers and husband, Harold, all of Oneida; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Della Strunk and Elva Bilbrey, both of Oneida; a special sister-in-law, Eva Davis and husband, Joe, of Oneida; sisters-in-law Linnie Jones of Oneida, Ollie Acres of Perry, Ga., and Agnes Mays of Oneida; brothers-in-law, Audney Acres and Argie Acres and wife, Lenore, all of Oneida; Lloyd Acres and wife, Artie, of Clinton, and Silas Acres of Indiana. Many other relatives also survive. Funeral services were conducted Monday in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Smith and Rev. Philip Kazee officiating. Special music was provided by Gina Phillips, Lana Ellis and the First Baptist Church Quartet. Burial was in the Hazel Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Jack Davis, Rick Davis, Mark Acres, Brennan Acres, Jeff Morgan, Neil Edwards, Chris Young and Butch Skinner. Jones & Son Funeral Home, Oneida, was in charge of arrangements.
