Son of Oliver Yeaw and Temperance "Tempy" Carpenter Yeaw of Rhode Island.

From the Towle Genealogy: Supposed to be of Dutch descent, and lived in Clarendon, Rutland County until he moved to Franklin County. He married Sarah Towle in 1816. He died when a tree fell on him. He was the first person buried in the South Franklin Cemetery. Joseph and Sarah had 5 children: Mary 1816, Charles B. 1818, Elvira T. 1820, Reuben 1822 and Joseph Jr. 1825. Sarah gave birth to their youngest child Joseph a few months after her husband Joseph died.
