Laetitia was the daughter of James Nelson and Martha. She married Alexander Holbrook on 26 Feb 1863 in Bureau Co, Illinois. They were the parents of 8 children, 6 living in 1900: Mattie (1864), George (1866), Amy (1867, George Stavely), Mary (1869), Maude L (1873-1948)and May Viola (1873-1954), Edith Idella (1877), and another son.

The Sac Sun - Thursday , October 13th, 1921 - Mrs Laetitia H Holbrook died at her home on North 6th street in Sac City at 9:30 last Friday norming at the age of 78 years and 6 days. Mrs Holbrook had been in poor health for a number of years.

On Sunday preceding her death she was stricken with paralysis but she lingered for several days before she passed peacefully to the Great Beyond.

The funeral was held last Monday afternoon. There was a brief service the home, following with the funeral was held in the First Methodist Episcopal church. Interment was made in Oakland cemetery the pall bearers being WR Poland, AE Webb, FI Howard, TW Zanniser, JA Jones, and George A Taylor.

Mrs Holbrook's maiden name was Laetitia Ramolina Nelson. She was born in Canada on Oct 1, 1843. She was afterward a resident of Illinois and at Tiskilwa in that state on Feb 26, 1863 was joined in marriage to Alexander Holbrook, who had been a soldier in the Civil War an was incapacitated for reenlistment.

About 25 years ago she and her husband moved to Iowa and resided for 8 years south of Storm Lake, thence moving to a farm near Sac City.

Mr Holbrook died Sept 23, 1907 and was buried in Oakland cemetery at Sac City. To them were born 2 sons long ago deceased and 6 daughters, all of whom survive their mother, namely: Mrs DH Marple, Sac City; Mrs Amy Stavely, Council Bluffs, IA; Mrs OR Lupton Sac City; Mrs Frank Fishback, Regina, Saskatchewan: Mrs SC Honeycomb, Shullsburg, WI; and Mrs LP Clark, Cheyenne WY. Of these daughters all but the last named were in attendance at the funeral.

Mrs Holbrook was also survived by 19 grandchidren and 14 great grandchildren.

Also attending the funeral was her sister, Mrs GH Richtmyer, Rochester, MN
