OGDEN - Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Emma Vilate Tippets Widmer, age 82, passed away November 17, 2004. Vilate was born May 9, 1922 to John Harvey Tippets and Irene Smith in Georgetown, Idaho. She married David Widmer on June 29, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple and together they are the parents of two sons and two daughters. Vilate graduated from LDS Business College and worked as a legal secretary for many years and retired from H.A.F.B.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many teaching and administrative positions. Vilate had a beautiful alto singing voice and sang for many years with friends in a triple trio group. She enjoyed providing active service to others with her exquisite cooking, candy making and sewing skills. Thanksgiving dinners were only complete with seven different pies.
Vilate is survived by Dave, her husband of 54 years; three children, Steve (Mary) of Wyoming, Greg (Ann) of Harrisville, Colleen (Wayne) of Idaho; son-in-law Robert; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Vilate was preceded in death by her daughter Julie.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 20, at 11:00 a.m. at the Jefferson 1st Ward, 27th and Jefferson. Friends and family may call at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, on Friday, November 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Interment at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park.
