Raymond L. Meyer of Wichita and formerly of Strong City died Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. He was 75.The service to celebrate his life will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls. Lay minister Floyd Dorsey will conduct the service. Burial, with military services conducted by a Fort Riley Honor Guard, will be in Strong City Cemetery at Strong City.Memorial contributions to the Chase County All Veterans Memorial may be sent in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.

Raymond L. Meyer, the son of Henry and Alice Carson Meyer, was born May 20, 1935, in Council Grove, Kansas. He graduated from Chase County High School.He and Jane Clark were married August 1, 1958, in Strong City, KS. He served in the United States Army from September 20, 1954, until he was honorably discharged from active duty on July 12, 1957. They owned and operated Meyer Grocery in Strong City. They later moved to Wichita, KS, where he worked in sales for Excel Corp., Fanestil Packing, Meyer Country Fresh Meats, and McGreedy Meats.While in Chase County, he served as a member of the school board.He is survived by his wife, Jane, of the home; two sons, Gary Meyer, and his wife, Nancy, of Monett, MO., and Steve Meyer and his wife, Jackie of Wichita; two brothers, Ronald Meyer of Dodge City and Robert Meyer of El Dorado, KS; a niece, Crista Dorsey and her husband, Floyd of Emporia; grandchildren: Kyle Elise and Ian Meyer of Monett, MO, and Levi and Dalton Meyer of Wichita; Elizabeth (Dorsey), Brian, Rachel, and Sarah Dorsey of Emporia. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Roberta Allen and Doris Watts.
