Alice Meyer, Strong City, died Monday at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita. She was 78 years old.
She was born Dec. 26, 1910, in Oklahoma to Robert and Annie Reese Carson.
Her marriage to Henry Meyer was on Sept. 20, 1929. They owned and operated Westside Market and restaurants in Herington, and also the Strong City Locker Plant. He died May 28, 1958.
Mrs. Meyer was a member of the Strong City United Methodist Church.
She also was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, and her parents.
Survivors include three sons, Raymond Meyer of Wichita, Ronald Meyer of Dodge City, and Robert Meyer of El Dorado; two daughters, Doris Watts, Strong City, and Roberta Allen, Emporia; two brothers, Bill Carson, Quenemo, and Earl Carson, Eskridge; a sister, Edith Curtis, Emporia; and 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren. She was a sister-in-law of Leland Meyer and Mrs. Linus (Nadine) Burnett.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, at Brown-Bennett Chapel, Cottonwood Falls, with Rev. Dan Roland officiating. Burial is to be in Greenwood Cemetery, Council Grove.
Memorial contributions may go to the American Heart Association.
