DAVID HENRY CONWELL

MOORLAND, Ind., Oct. 25 - David Henry Conwell, age 61, a prominent farmer living near here, died at his home Sunday morning of heart failure. His death was very sudden, as he had not been complaining until Sunday. Two children, Gilbert Conwell of this place, and Mrs. Dallas Harry of Mt. Summit, survive.
The funeral will be held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the South church here. Interment will be made here.

MOORELAND, Ind., Oct. 27 - The funeral of D. H. Conwell was held here Tuesday afternoon from the Disciples church, Rev. S. G. Smith of Ladoga, officiating. Interment took place at the Mooreland cemetery.

David H. Conwell was born April 19, 1854, in Blue River Twp., Henry Co., IN, a son of George W., born December 24, 1822, and Mary J. (Messick) Conwell, born September 14, 1822, both natives of Delaware. His parents were married August 18, 1842, and that following December, they settled in Blue River Twp., Henry Co., IN. His father, George W., enlisted in the 69th Indiana Infantry during the Civil War and died in Helena, Phillips Co., AR on February 15, 1863. His mother, Mary, died at the age of sixty years and six months on March 10, 1883. George and Mary had a family of twelve children: Harriet E.; Eliza A., died March 2, 1865; Samuel R.; Eli M.; Sarah E.; Winfield S.; David H.; Alice W., died May 26, 1861; Josephine; Ida; Mary E., died September 20, 1862; and Georgetta.
David was reared to farm life and educated in the common-schools. At the age of twenty-four years, he married, on November 28, 1878, to Mary M., the daughter of Adam and Katherine (Koons) Muller, of Indiana, and had one son, Gilbert. After his marriage, he settled in Stony Creek Twp., Henry Co., IN on a farm of 80 acres and resided there until March 22, 1883, when he purchased another farm of 159 1/2 acres.
David was a Republican, and a member of the Campbellite Church.
