Children of Oscar and Sarah--Pearl, Jessie, Eula,
Rose, Glenn T. Rader
Roy E. Rader (1888-1975) m.
Minerva Cornelius (1892-1972)
Children of Roy and Minerva--Howard, Vernon,
Lucille, Fred, William, John, Irene Rader
On 5 Feb 1895, Tom Smith shot and killed Armina's husband, Dr. John E. Rader. Tom Smith was suspected of other killings in what is known as the Breathitt County Wars. It was not until he was on the hangman's stand that he confessed to his crimes--singing a song of lament he had composed
One of the touching incidents of the execution was the action of the Armina, widow of Dr. Rader, who was present with her three little children and Dr. Rader's brother. Just before the drop fell she held her little ones up at arm's length so they could look over the crowd and see the man who murdered their father.
Armina married a second time. This husband murdered her and then killed himself. The name of the second husband is still under review.
