Dyer Services Held Sunday
Funeral services for Leavie Dyer, long-time farmer and resident of the Carnegie community, were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist church. Rev. Eugene t. Cooprider, pastor, officiated, assisted by Rev. Jimmy Riddlesburger, pastor of the Assembly of God church. Interment was in the Carnegie cemetery.
Dyer moved with his family to Eastern Oklahoma in 1900 and later to the Carnegie community in 1908. He was married to Eula Mae Kinnaird November 13, 1920 at Anadarko. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last November.
They established their home four miles east of Carnegie where they still lived and where they reared their six children. He was actively engaged in farming until he became ill. He had served many years on the school board, was a member of the A.S.C.S. committee, and was active in many other civic and community affairs.
Dyer was born December 25, 1897 at Whitesboro, Texas, to
R.P. and Mary Liu Dyer and died Friday, April 30, in the
Carnegie Hospital after a brief illness. He was 73 years old.
He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Glen, in 1864, and by his parents and two brothers Irvin and Jim.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Alma Griffith of Verden and Mrs. Cleo Blalock of Anadarko; three sons, Bill of Whitewright, Texas, Bob of Frederick, and Alan of Carnegie; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, five sisters, Mrs. Ina Cole of Sunnymeade, Calif., Mrs. Myrtle Hostick of Lubbock, and Mrs. Maggie Rogers, Mrs. Ella Crose and Mrs. Ova Terrell of Carnegie; two brothers, Will of Holbrook, Ariz., and Homer of Oklahoma City.
