Local Man Killed In Night Wreck
A 24-year-old man was killed early Tuesday morning when his pickup crashed into an embankment at the intersection of Highways 58, and 19, about 19 miles southeast of Carnegie.
Glen Dyer, driving north on Highway 58, did not make the sharp turn onto Highway 19. His pickup crossed Highway 19, climbed a 30-foot embankment.
A passing motorist discovered the pickup and reported it to the Carnegie nighwatchman, Mel Anderson. A Pitcher Funeral ambulance brought Dyer to the local hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Time of death was set at approximately 2:15 a.m., according to reports.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Methodist church. Rev. Elson Hargrove, pastor, will officiate, assisted by Rev. Roy Rowlan, a former pastor. Burial will be in the Carnegie cemetery with Pitcher Funeral Home in charge.
Glen Edwin Dyer was born April 6, 1940, to Mr. and Mrs. Leavie Dyer, Carnegie. He had lived most of his life in this area. He was graduated from the local high school and attended Oklahoma State University three years.
He farmed and was fieldman for the Chickasha Production Credit Association.
He was married to Miss Linda Reynolds, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Reynolds, June 30, 1961, in Carnegie. He was a member of the First Methodist church.
He is survived by his wife of the home at 309 East Main; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leavie Dyer; three brothers, Billy of Verden, Bob of Frederick and Alan, Carnegie; two sisters, Mrs. Alma Griffith, Verden, and Mrs. Cleo Blalock.
