Joan Neal Adlesperger, daughter of Martin and Matilda Neal, was born June 3, 1858, in Indiana and departed this life September 3, 1943, at the age of 85 years, 2 months, 26 days. She passed away at the home of her daughter Mrs. W.R. Baxley, at Canton, Illinois.
She came to this country with her parents at the age of nine years. When she grew to womanhood she was united in marriage to William J. Adlesperger, February 17, 1877. She lived the greater part of her life in Missouri, with the exception of a short time lived in South Dakota, and a while in New Mexico. The last two years of her life was spent in Canton, Ill.
To this union 4 children were born: Mrs. Eva Wadsworth, Laredo, MO.; Mrs. Gillian Baxley, Canton, Ill.; Mrs. Zola Davis of Dixon, Ill. One son, Martin Adlesperger, and her husband preceded her in death. There are 8 living grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She united with the Christian church at the Hill School house at the age of 13 years.
Her remains were brought to Center Grove church, where the funeral rites were delivered by Rev. Hugh M. Harmon and the remains were laid to rest in the Bracket Cemetery.
