MRS. LIZZIE STANLEY
Mrs. Lizzie Stanley, formerly of Chariton, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1942, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter G. Kassebaum, in Fremont, Nebr., at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 17 days. She had been in ill health for two years.
Lizzie Barnett, daughter of Robert and Martha Barnett, was born in Freedom, Lucas county, Iowa, on March 31, 1863. She grew to young womanhood in this vicinity and was married here in 1886 to Francis A. Stanley, of Chariton, whose death occurred in April, 1893.
To this union three children were born, one son, Joseph, died in 1937 at the age of 47 years, and two daughters, Mrs. Roberta Kassebaum, of Fremont, Nebr. and Mrs. Bessie Failor, of Phoenix, Ariz. Both daughters survive her, also one brother, Dick Barnett, of Chariton.
During her residence here of many years, Mrs. Stanley won a host of friends by her many fine traits of character and genial manners. She was a devoted wife and mother and a true friend.
The body was brought to Chariton Thursday and taken to the Beardsley funeral home where funeral services were held at two o'clock Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Virgil Neville, of the Christian church, and burial was in the Chariton cemetery.
