Berry L. Greer emigrated with his brother to Pettis county, Missouri in 1838 at age 16. He remained there until 1841 when he returned to Franklin county, Virginia but he returned to Missouri in 1842 and was married in St. Charles county, Missouri.
Mr. Greer entered part of his land, 280 acres in 1844, and has lived on it since 1861. Mr. Greer has seen many changes come and go to Pettis County but he has always kept pace with its progress. He is a member of the Baptist Church and has been for some years among its liberal contributors and supportors.

Berry and Lucy Greer have eight children: J.R., Betsy B., John T., Berry, Daniel G., Lucy M., Rodes D. and William. All were still living in 1882 and the last two still living at home. SOURCE: (The History of Pettis County, Missouri, published 1882, pages 845-846.)

Berry Greer is the son of Ezekiel Greer and Jemina Saunders. He married Lucy Clay Pasley April 15, 1843 in Carroll county, Missouri. They had at least nine children.
