Son of--
Nathan Brownfield Jennings
and
Elizabeth Jane Findley Jennings

He was the 5th of the six children from his parent's marriage. His father was of Scottish lineage, and his mother was from Irish lineage. [I share this lineage since Abel's parents are my 2nd great grandparents. (dht) ]

-----

Residences and Occupations--
Abel was born in Kansas, went to school there, and lived there with his parents and siblings. He worked as a ranch laborer in Kansas, often living at the ranches perhaps in a "bunk house" for ranch hands.

-----

Marriage--
About 1913-1918, he was joined in marriage to Mary Elizabeth "Mayme" Elliott Jennings in Kansas. [ I've no info about children from this marriage (dht) .]

-----

Military--
on 12 Sep 1918 in McPherson County, Kansas, Abel registered for military service for WW I. His draft records list these details (height medium, build medium, eyes blue, hair light, age 33, born 7 Jan 1885, married to Mary E Jennings; works as a farmer in civilian life in McPherson, McPherson County, Kansas, and signature on card is "Abel Archie Jennings". If Abel was called to serve, it would have been for a less than a couple of years, for WWI was coming to a close, and Abel was living with his wife in McPherson County, Kansas, in 1920.

-----

Burial--
In April 1963 in Kansas, Abel passed away (age 78 and widowed for 9 years). His beloved helpmate and wife "Mayme" predeceased Abel in 1954 and she was buried in McPherson Cemetery, Kansas. Abel was also laid to rest in McPherson Cemetery.
