WILLIAM (Bill) HENRY HARGER

Born on November 25, 1852 in Hamilton County, Indiana near Noblesville
Died on April 23, 1920 in McPherson, Kansas of a heart attack.

William married Amanda (Mandy) Jane Way on November 12, 1871 in Monroe County, Iowa at Justice of the Peace William Martin's home.

William is buried at McPherson City Cemetery in McPherson, Kansas. Amanda is buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. William was a farmer. They spent their early married years in Monroe County, Iowa. They then moved to Posey County, Indiana for a few years. They took their family by covered wagon to the Cherokee Strip in Oklahoma and participated in the "Great Land Rush" where they homesteaded. They lived in a "soddie" on the property. Amanda was a homemaker. Amanda lost 2 fingers and thumb on her left hand in a cane press. She could still crochet and quilt beautifully. Amanda lived the last few years of her life with her son, Harvey and his family.

Wm. H. Harger was born in Hamilton County, Ind., near Noblesville, on November 25, 1852 and died at McPherson, Kansas April 23, 1920, age 67 years, 4 months and 29 days. He was married November 12, 1871 to Amanda Way in Monroe County, Iowa. to this union were born nine children, eight sons and one daughter. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and three sons, Jess A. of Oklarado, Colorado, Henry F. of Copeland, Kansas, and Harvey H. of Ashland, Nebraska. Also eleven grandchildren and a host of friends.

WM. HARGER DEAD

This morning between seven thirty and eight o'clock Wm. Harger, (?) South Elm, after starting up town in a wagon with F.T. Dunklee had a sudden sinking spell and died in the wagon before he could be gotten back to the house. He was 69 years of age.
