Verba Lee (McKeel) Scheid, 100, St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mrs. Scheid was born July 14, 1905, in Niangua, Mo. In 1938, she moved to California where she taught mentally retarded children for the San Gabriel Valley until 1974 when she moved to take care of her son, who was a paraplegic and confined to a wheelchair.
She was of the Christian faith.
In 1981, she married Fred Scheid. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Scheid was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Molly McKeel; her first husband, Mark Sochat; her son, Eugene Fike; two brothers, Lavell and Lowell McKeel; and a sister, Cleda Pullen.
Survivors include a sister, Marie Davison of St. Joseph.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Rupp Chapel, St. Joseph. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the Rupp Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to the Noyes Home or a charity of the donor's choice.
