Mrs. N.O. Deines

Elizabeth Helen Swingle (sic), daughter of George and Helen Schwingle, was born on her father's homestead near Clay Center, Nebr., on February 12, 1877, and passed away at her home in Clay Center on September 29, 1945 at the age of 68 years, 7 months and 17 days.

In her early womanhood she united with the Emanuel Evangelical church (sic) and in later years she worked with the Woman's Association of the Congregational Church of Clay Center.

On March 9th, 1904 she was united in marriage with Nicholas Deines. To this union were born six chidden, Mrs. Helen Buchtel and Burnette of Clay Center, Kathryn and Norval Deines of Grand Island, Sgt. Royce Deines, who is in the service, and Mrs. Mary Snyder, at present residing in Clay Center.

Her husband, six children, five grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Emma Lobb and numerous other relatives and friends survive her.

All three sons entered the service early in the war and her heart's desire was to have them all at home again. This wish was fulfilled when Royce returned two weeks ago, after nearly three years in the Pacific. Her son-in-law, Captain Leslie Snyder has just recently embarked for duty in the Pacific area.

Her life was devoted to her family and home and she was loved by all who knew her. Her passing is mourned by her family and friends.

The road into the sunset
In one we each must tread
And though it brings us sorrow
When a loved one goes ahead.
Still there is comfort knowing
We will meet again someday
When grief and pain are over
And the clouds have rolled away.
