Robert Lee Coates
Gloucester, May 26 - Robert Lee Coates, 76, a farmer and oysterman, died Tuesday at his home at Glass. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Kate Erman Coates, he is survived by nine daughters, Mrs. Nelson Williams, Mrs. Archie Rowe and Mrs. Clarence Greene, all of Glass; Mrs. Welford Rowe and Mrs. Stephen Hogg, both of Hayes Store; Mrs. Herbert Sands and Mrs. Ernest Rowe, both of Norfolk; Mrs. Edgar Haynes, of Ordinary, and Mrs. John Wiley, of Cape Charles; and one son, Elmer Coates, of Glass; one sister, Mrs. Melinda Deal, of Naxera; 26 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Groves Memorial Presbyterian Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
