He was born on Aug. 20, 1924, in Benson, son of Cornelius F. and Anna Marie Baumann Janssen. He married Carol Jane Wolf on Sept. 14, 1952, in Benson. She survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brad Janssen; three brothers; and seven sisters.
Bud was a farmer, farming in the Benson area all of his life. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed gardening and growing hostas.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Roanoke, where he was baptized and confirmed. He had served on the Roanoke-Benson Unit District 60 school board from 1972 to 1980.
