Warren James Murphy Sr., 58, of the 2000 block of Girard Ave., died July 18, 2002 at his residence.
A native of the Broadmoor section of Chesapeake, he was employed as a boilermaker with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
Mr. Murphy is survived by a daughter, Tammy Murphy Ward and her husband Duane of Chesapeake and a son, Warren James Murphy Jr. of North Carolina. He is also survived by his father, Alvin E. Murphy and his wife Sarah Murphy of Chesapeake; two sisters Carolyn Kilduff of Sarasota, Fla., and Jean Harris of Smithfield, Va.; a brother, Bobby Murphy of Arizona; four grandchildren, Kayla Turner, Kristen Ward, Matthew Murphy, and Warren James Murphy III; and a dear friend, Theresa M. Bryant. He was preceded in death by his mother, Constance Murphy.
A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Riverside Memorial Park with the Rev. Dan Gray officiating. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, today from 4 to 6 p.m.
