OBITUARY :
MRS. MARY MELINDA STAUB RUTH, widow of John H. Ruth, died suddenly at 9:45 o'clock last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Richard Johnson, Highfield, Md., with whom she had made her home for the last 20 years following the death of her husband.

She was taken ill September 7, suffering an attack of pneumonia, and for two weeks had been confined to her room. During her illness she developed a severe heart condition, which was the cause of her death.

She was born at Highfield, the daughter of Charles W. and Anna M. (Gladhill) Staub and lived her entire life in Highfield. In 1904 she and her husband operated a tavern until prohibition, and in 1933, she operated another tavern and operated it until her illness.

She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, Blue Ridge Summit.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Richard Johnson of Highfield and Mrs. John Messner, Waynesboro; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Emory Happel, Waynesboro.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Grove Funeral Home in charge of Rev. Boyd Davis and Rev. A. G. Van Elden. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery.

Friends may call Thursday evening from 7 until 9 at the funeral home.
