She was born May 26, 1924 in Battle Ground to the late Jesse and Mary (Bailey) Scowden and attended Battle Ground High School.
Ella married Lyle Melvin Swisher in November 1945 in Lafayette, and he preceded her in death in March 1993.
Ella was a lifelong member of the Battle Ground United Methodist Church, and Americus Quilting Club.
She worked for several years as head cook at Battle Ground Elementary School until her retirement.
Ella enjoyed spending her time quilting, reading, gardening, and spending time with her loving family.
She is survived by her children, Lloyd Swisher, Ronald Swisher, Jacqueline Lehman, and Glenda Shoemaker, as well as 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are siblings: Ernest Scowden, Earl Scowden, Ada Carte, Grace Cunningham, Winnie Proffit, and Minnie Scowden. She is also preceded in death by a grandson, Brad Shoemaker.
