Funeral services for Edward Irby Ellington of Lexington were held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, from the Southern Funeral Home chapel in Lexington with Rev. Dudley Brown officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Howard Allen. Interment followed in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.

Mr. Ellington, 71, died at the Holmes County Hospital in Lexington on Friday, August 5, following a lengthy illness. He was a retired farmer and lifelong resident of Holmes County. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Elaine McLellan Ellington of Lexington: one son, Edward Ellington of Jackson; one brother, Leonard Ellington of West Palm Beach, Florida; and grandchildren, Win Ellington, Cleta Elaine Ellington, and Edward Clifton Ellington, all of Jackson.

Pallbearers were Richard Ellington, Sam Ellington, Tim Wagner, Billy McLellan, Franky McCrory, Murray Fincher, Parham Williams, Jr. and Julian Watson.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Charles Campbell, Dr. John Downer, E.R. Trotman, Gene Herrman, John Word, Pat Barrett, Sr. and Billy Ellis.
