Services For Mrs. Ellington Held April 18

Funeral services for Mrs. Abner E. Ellington of Lexington were held Saturday, April 18 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home with the Reverend James McCafferty officiating, assisted by the Reverend Larry Goodpastor and the Reverend Shelby Hathorn. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery with Southern in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ellington died at her home Thursday afternoon following an apparent heart attack. She was 86.

A native and lifelong resident of Holmes County, she was a member of Bowling Green Methodist Church. Her parents were the late John N. Grantham and Mattie McNeer Grantham.

She leaves three sons, Irby Ellington of Lexington, Leonard Ellington of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Tennessee’s Governor Buford Ellington of Nashville; a brother, E. O. Grantham of Greenwood; four sisters, Mrs. N.L. Miles of Yazoo City, Mrs. William McKinley of Humbolt, Tennessee, Mrs. E.W. Eubank of Winona, and Mrs. Earl Williamson of Durant; an aunt, Mrs. Alma Williamson of Canton; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons; Sam Ellington, Richard Ellington, John Earl Ellington, Edward Ellintgton, Tim Wagner, Charles Daner; Bill McLellan and Bob McLellan.
