Virgil E. "Jack" Brummitt, 81, of Olney, IL, died at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2003, at Richland Care & Rehab Center in Olney.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Staci-Grove Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of the funeral home with Reverend John Craig officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in rural Olney.
Mr. Brummitt was born on Sept. 21, 1922, in Mt. Erie, IL, the son of James Virgil and Artie (Tucker) Brummitt. He married Ada Gardner on August 31, 1946, in Olney. She survives.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a retired welder from Roadmaster in Olney.
Mr. Brummitt is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ada Brummitt, of Olney; two sons, Sam Brummitt and his wife Arlene, of Belleville, IL, and Dan Brummitt of Calhoun, IL; two daughters, Judy Westfall and her husband, Bob, of Olney, IL, and Karen Ellis, of Lawrenceville, IL; two brothers, Pearl "Pete" Brummitt and his wife, Dorothy, of Westminister, CO, and Huey Brummitt and his wife, Jane, of Enid, OK; two sisters, Bernice Webster, of Springfield, IL, and Mildred Burt of Benita, TX; six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren,four great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Larry Brummitt, and one sister, Dorothy Brummitt.
