A nine year old Calhoun boy, last night, became Richland County's first 1952 polio fatality, when he passed away, from the disease, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.

He was Larry Lee Brummitt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil E. (Jack) Brummitt, of Calhoun, IL.

Larry was first admitted to the Olney Sanitarium on Sept. 10, and his illness was diagnosed immediately as poliomyelitis. He was then rushed to the hospital in Springfield, where he was a patient for nine days, before his death.

Besides his parents, the youngster is survived by one brother, Sammy, and one sister, Judith Ann. The latter is also a patient at St. John's Hospital, with polio. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Brummitt of Olney, IL and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gardner of Calhoun, IL.

The body has been returned to Olney, by the Schaub Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Saturday, with Rev. Leland Hooper in charge. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
