Jacob was the youngest of two children born to Jacob and Margaret (Hartmann) Freundlich, both natives of Bavaria. His father died January 26, 1862 and his mother came to this country in 1872 and lived with Jacob until her death on January 20, 1875. Jacob came to America, landing in New York City, January 1, 1867 and then went to Cincinnati, Ohio. He soon came to Warrick Co., Indiana and settled in Boonville. On November 25, 1867, he was married to Eva Margaret Lutz and they became parents of nine children.
