Jarrett Services Were Held Wednesday
Funeral services for Mrs. Jewell Evelyn Jarrett were held Wednesday, April 8, at 10 o’clock a.m. in Lexington First Methodist Church. Officiating minister was the Reverend Crawford Ray, assisted by the Reverend Shelby Hathorn.
Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jarrett died Tuesday at Holmes County Community Hospital after a stay of a week. She was 78.
A native of Arkansas, Mrs. Jarrett was a long time employee of Holmes County Bank and Trust Company where she served as head bookkeeper and assistant cashier. She was a member of First Methodist Church and active in civic and church affairs. She made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Buster Read in Lexington.
She leaves a cousin, Will Mack of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Mrs. Jarrett’s parents were the late John A. Blackshire and Nancy Blackshire.
Pallbearers were Bill McLellan, Billy Ellis, Frank Hughes, David Dillon, J.C. Patton, Sonny Russell, Melvin Wells, and Leslie Gilliland.
Honorary Pallbearers were employees and directors of Holmes County Bank & Trust Company, Lexington; members of Friendship Sunday School Class of First Methodist Church, and Stewards of the Methodist church.
