Robert S. Balmer, 91, of 1007 Fourth Ave., Beaver Falls, died Thursday afternoon, Feb. 21, 1974, in the Beaver County Hospital, Brighton Township, where he had been a patient for two years.
Born March 15, 1882 in Butler, son of the late John and Margaret Balmer, he was self-employed in the New Brighton-Beaver Falls area since 1920, and was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, New Brighton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mazie Lytle Balmer, in 1945, and a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Evelyn) Shanor, in 1971.
Surviving are five sons, Karol, Southgate, Calif., Merle, Wilbur and Robert, all of Beaver Falls, and Gerald, New Brighton; six daughters, Mrs. George (Blanche) Pickrell, New Brighton, Mrs. Fred (Erma) Miller, Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Homer (Thelma) Suter, Beaver, Mrs. Ruth Rice, Anaheim, Calif., Mrs. William (Melva) Worrell, Youngstown, Ohio, and Mrs. Loretta Myers, Beaver Falls; 27 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, where a service will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. by his pastor, the Rev. Robert Critchlow.
Interment will be in Grove Cemetery, New Brighton.
