They journed over the plains with the Willey Martin Handcart Co. arriving in Salt Lake City, Utah, 9 Nov 1856.
Mary Ellen married Walter Crane Mandell on 24 Oct 1859 in Salt Lake City; they had one son: Walter Wright Mandell (1902-1963). She died 2 Mar 1902 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
