Rachel Dorothy Baker 1911 ~ 2006 Rachel Dorothy Baker passed away Saturday, July 15, 2006 at the age of 94 in Salt Lake City.
She was the daughter of William Edward and Emma Iverson Bunker. Born in Delta, Utah, November 3, 1911.
She received her R.N. degree at the LDS Hospital of Nursing where she met her first husband, Dr. Joseph LaReno Hansen. They lived in Vernal, Utah and were the parents of five children, four of whom are living.
After Joe died, June 11, 1950, she settled in Salt Lake City and later married J. Allen Baker. Allen died Jan. 25, 1992.
Dorothy is also preceded in death by her brother, Owen Bunker; and her sister, Grace Peterson; daughter, Jacqueline; and grandson, David Hansen. Dorothy was a loving mother and grandmother and devoted member of the LDS Church. She traveled all over the world and never met a stranger. She was the secretary of the state garden club and enjoyed her roses, ballroom dancing, and bridge.
She is survived by her sister, Jetta Hepworth of Salt Lake City; and four children, Jetta Alayne Hansen of El Sobrante, CA, Michael (Bette Jo) Hansen ofElk Grove, CA, Sylvia Joelle (William) Hamilton of Toronto, Canada, and Dr. William Bunker (Kathy) Hansen of Oakridge, North Carolina. She has18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2006, 2 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South. Friends and family may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at the mortuary.
Interment to follow services in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Primary Children's Medical Center.
