Headstone inscription gives the spelling of surname as Hamor. Both the surname Hammers and Hamor appear in this cemetery. It is unknown if the surname on the headstone or the one in the Civil War files is in error or if they were both used by the same person. However the 1880 US Census list Aaron and his Wife Nancy with the surname of Hammers, as well as the US Civil War Pension Index showing both Aaron and Nancy.
