Dr. Andrew Edwin Lewis was born April 9, 1906 in Meridan, Bosque County, Texas, to Lowery S. and Mary Louise Lewis. Andy had four brothers and three sisters.
Mickey was born Vertna Beaty, July 26, 1908 in Comanche County Texas to Albert Marvin and Kate Collins Beaty. Mickey had two sisters and three brothers.
Late summer of 1929, Andy and Mickey each arrived and met on the same day in Muleshoe (Texas). They were married April 25, 1931. They have one son, Dr. Charles G. Lewis who was born July 26, 1934. They have three grandchildren; Lashelle Lewis Wilson, an attorney in San Antonio, Texas; Lindsey Lamont Lewis, a mechanical engineer in Austin, Texas; Jeffrey Charles Lewis, a third grade student at DeShazo Elementary School in Muleshoe.
Dr. Lewis attended schools in Bosque County, the University of Texas School Dentistry and graduated June 1929, starting his dental practice in Muleshoe August 10, 1929. He was the first dentist in Muleshoe and the only dentist between Clovis (New Mexico) and Littlefield, Hereford, and Levelland (Texas). Andy is a life member of the Texas Dental Association and a member of South Plains Dental Society for which he was president in 1944. He had three brothers-in-law who were dentists; Dr. Elmer Moore, Lubbock; Dr. Ray Ross, Levelland; Dr. B. Z. Beaty, Muleshoe. His son Dr. Charles Gilbert Lewis attended Baylor University School of Dentistry and after serving two years in the military joined his father in 1960. Andy served as mayor of Muleshoe June 25, 1937 to April 4, 1940.
Mickey attended schools in Martha, Oklahoma and Simmons University (now Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas). She and her sister Lucille Beaty came to Muleshoe to teach. Mickey taught from 1929 to 1934. Lucille taught from 1929 to 1939. Mickey started working with Andy at the dental office in 1952, and worked until their retirement in 1984. Andy and Mickey reside at 522 West Avenue D (Muleshoe, Texas) and they celebrated fifty-seven years of marriage, April 25, 1988.
