She was born in Muncie, the daughter of Mary and Ed Stephens. Ruth lived in the Chesterfield and Muncie area most of her life. She graduated from Royerton High School in 1938 and was the class valedictorian. She worked as a legal secretary for many years and retired in the late 1980's.
Her memberships include the Chesterdield Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, Gary Stebbins, Fishers; a daughter, Suzanne Buck (husband: George), Yorktown; five grandchildren, Jeff Buck (wife: Anissa), Anderson, Julie Russo (husband: Tim), Fort Knox, Ky., Angie Huddleston, Anderson, Jenni Jeffers (husband: Mike), and Craig Stebbins, Kentucky; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Stebbins, in 1990.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in The Meeks Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Kerry Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Bronnenberg Cemetery.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary 4-8 p.m. Tuesday or an hour before services on Wednesday.
