Miss Ethel Darnell, aged 42, of Freeport died at the St. Joseph's hospital at Parkersburg Sunday morning at 3:40 o'clock after a week's illness. She was a member of one of Wirt County's prominent families, a daughter of the late J.F. Darnell who was a prominent merchant and business man at Freeport for many years. Miss Darnell was an accomplished musician, and with her sisters, who are also musicians, appeared in many church and public programs in this section of the state. She was an active member of the Newark Baptist Church. Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Rosa Darnell and two sisters, Misses Noma and Agnes Darnell, all of Freeport, and an uncle, B. Darnell of Newark. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Newark Baptist Church. Interment was made in the Fought cemetery.
