Protopresbyter Frank Estocin, who died on June 6, 2010 at age 73 leaves behind a strong legacy of dedication and commitment to his community, faith and family. Born on April 14, 1937 in Turtle Creek, PA, Father Frank served in the United States Army, assigned to the Eastern European territory from 1955-1958. Ordained to the priesthood on March 25, 1966 in Turtle Creek, PA, Fr. Frank enthusiastically served the Ukrainian Orthodox community at St. Vladimir's Cathedral in Philadelphia, PA, for over 26 years. Elevated to protopresbyter, highest rank of priesthood, over 20 years ago, Fr. Frank was viewed as a beloved leader in the Ukrainian Orthodox community. His active leadership roles and membership roles included the Metropolitan Council, Consistory and various liturgical committees within the Ukrainian Orthodox community. He served as the rector, instructor and dean of the St. Sophia Ukrainian Orthodox Seminary for decades and held numerous international honors and distinctions, including a distinct honor of opening a United States Congressional Session in the late 1980's. Fr. Frank's dedication and love for Christ and education spanned past generations and will continue to leave a positive legacy of generations to come. He is survived by his loving wife, Irene Estocin; son Andrew Estocin, and daughter Mary Estocin Teryek; grandsons Aaron Frank Estocin, Adam Joseph Teryek and granddaughter Sara Elizabeth Teryek and brother Tom Estocin from Turtle Creek,PA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Rev. Estocin's memory to St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral 6740 N. 5th St. Philadelphia, PA 19126. Viewing was on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. (Parastas for a Priest 7 p.m.), at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 6740 N. 5th St., Philadelphia, PA. Funeral will be on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. with Requiem Services for A Priest at 9 a.m. Interment is in St. Andrew's Cemetery, South Bound Brook, NJ.
