Donna Lou Layne, 75, of London, Ohio, died Friday, June 4, 2010, at her residence.

She was born, Feb. 23, 1935, in Madison, the daughter of Clarence and Opal Laura Brooks Elston. She graduated from Central High School. Her passion was always her horses, starting as a young girl, working on the farm driving horses in the fields, to trail riding for pleasure, and ending with "Sonny," her miniature horse. She enjoyed working in her flowers and gardens. She was a Madison Plains school bus driver for 30 years.

She is survived by her husband, James Richard Layne, whom she married Aug. 7, 1954; one son, James Michael Layne of Plain City, Ohio; one daughter, Vickie Lou Wright of Lilly Chapel, Ohio; one sister, Shirley Mae Elston of Madison; two brothers, Lloyd Keith Elston and Dillon Elston, both of Anderson; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by two sons, Clyde and Clarence Layne; one daughter, Donna Kristin Layne; her parents; one brother, Earl Dean Elston; and one sister Linda Sue Elston Parker.

A private gathering and burial were in Alton, Ohio.
