Age 86, died Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Bortz Healthcare of Ypsilanti with her loving family at her side. She was born April 1, 1924 in Warfield, KY the daughter of James M. And Edith (Kirk) Starr. Mrs. Starr was a former member of the Willow Run Church of God. She was employed as a Professional Nanny for several families for many years. The proudest moment of her life was when she was Salutatorian for her High School graduating class of 1994 at Ypsilanti High School. She will always be remembered for her love of traveling and sponsorship of children for World Vision and St. Judes Childrens Hospital. Survivors include three children: Brenda Beaver of Whitmore Lake, MI, Tommy (Jan) Taylor of Ypsilanti Twp., and Peggy Williams of Ypsilanti; eight grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren: one sister, Thelma (Mel) Luoma of Mobile, AL, and one brother, William Starr of Florida. She was preceded in death by 16 brothers and sisters, one grandchild, Andrea Mullins and one son-in-law, James Beaver. Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 11 a.m. At the Pentecostal Church of God, 45 Oregon Street, Ypsilanti with Pastor Bobby Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Ypsilanti, MI.
