Jacob Solomon "Jake" CRUM was born June 15, 1862, in Monroe County, Indiana, the oldest son of Henry CRUM and Nancy Jane MORGAN CRUM. Jake had three siblings:
Minerva CRUM 1857 – 194
Rebecca Ann CRUM 1867 – 1959
Tilford CRUM 1873 – 1962

On September 29, 1881, Jake married Martha Adeline CRUM. Jake was 19 and Martha was 26. Together they had nine children:

Eva Lucinda Crum BROWN 1882 – 1909
Emma Lurinda Crum ANDERSON 1883 – 1978
Bertha Izora Crum MOOD 1886 – 1964
Charles Edward Crum 1888 – 1979
Thomas Henry Crum 1889 – 1948
Albert Rolla Crum 1891 – 1965
Nettie Jane Crum LINGEMAN 1893 – 1980
Dexter Hansel Crum 1894 – 1961
Lydia Ora Crum GRAVES 1896 – 1989

His wife, Martha, predeceased him in 1917.

Jake married again on July 13, 1919 to Celia Jane BRUNER. He was 57 and Celia was 47. The couple enjoyed 16 years of marriage. Celia died in 1935.

Jacob lived to be 82 years old and died Oct 17 1944.

Jacob S. Crum Dies Suddenly
Rites Will be Held Thursday at 2 P. M.

Following a stroke of paralysis which he suffered Sunday morning, Jacob S. Crum, 82-year old county resident died at his home three miles south of Stanford at 3:45 this morning. He was one of the best known farmers of that community, having passed his entire lifetime there.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Primitive Baptist Church of which he was a member, Thursday afternoon at two o'clock, with Elder Cecil Fusom officiating. Burial will be at the Burch Cemetery. The Masonic Lodge of Stanford, of which he was a member, will give their ritualistic service at the grave.

He is survived by eight children, one daughter having predeceased him in death; thirty-eight grandchildren and forty-six great-grandchildren.

The children are: Charles, Dexter, Thomas, Mrs. Manson Mood, Mrs. Earl Graves, and Mrs. Oliver Anderson, all of Solsberry Route Two; Mrs. Roger S. Lingeman and A. Rolla Crum, 309 East First Street.

A brother, Tilford Crum, of Solsberry Route Two, and a sister, Mrs. Rebecca Malicote of Spencer all survive.

The body was prepared for burial at the Weir Funeral Home.
